In the heart of Ames, Iowa
In September of 2001, our doors opened for the very first time. The House of Refuge has been a work brought to life through faith, dedication, and a vision for God and his people. Since 2001, some of our very first foundational members still attend and actively work in the church today. Having received the call from God, Bishop Orlando McClain has taken this beautiful work, from what some may call "humble beginnings."
Now looking back over 15 years ago, we realize, we have seen God's blessings poured out from the windows of Heaven on this ministry. Through faith, we have seen the sick be healed. Through faith we have seen lives changed dramatically. Through faith, we have seen former drug addicts, stop, and live for Christ. Through faith, we have seen our congregation grow, near beyond the walls of our building. In 2008, it was faith that our pastor took when we acquired a larger church building to accommodate God's people. Since then, many updates and renovations have been done to the church. The labor and dedication of our pastor, his family, and all the members who continually serve Christ and expand this ministry has kindled the spirit of unity and family.
When you walk into House of Refuge, you have always been greeted with a warm welcoming smile and a message that will fill your soul. Today, the congregation continues to grow, the ministry continues to expand. We hope and pray that you may visit our services. Maybe, even join us to continue in this rich history and help spread the great Gospel of Jesus Christ.
